Bishop George W. Brooks

Bishop Brooks serves as Bishop of Administration of Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International and as Senior Pastor and Chief -Elder of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Greensboro, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina, a Master of Divinity degree from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Doctorate of Ministry degree from Friends International Christian University in Merced, California. After accepting the call to the ministry in December 1974 and being licensed to preach the gospel in March 1975, Bishop Brooks began his service as Pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Under his leadership Mount Zion has grown from a membership of 35 in 1975 to over 5,000. A staff of 80 oversees the daily operation of Mount Zion’s 47 ministries including Solomon’s World Daycare and Solomon’s World After School, which currently serves 270 children/youth per day. Mount Zion’s Youth Ministry consists of 12 active ministries for ages 1-18 years and services 650 youth per week.

In 2001 God enlarged Mount Zion’s territory through the church planting of Calvary Christian Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, One in Christ Christian Fellowship in High Point, North Carolina, and the opening of One In Christ Bible College.

The scope of Mount Zion’s ministry has become worldwide which includes churches, missionaries, and schools in West Africa, South Africa and the Philippines. It is a ministry devoted to promoting a clear understanding of scripture and bringing change in the communities of the world. Bishop Brooks was instrumental in opening the first Bible School in a South African prison, a three-year program that reduces the recidivism rate.

He is the co-founder of Welfare Reform Liaison Project, a vehicle by which welfare recipients are empowered to become self-sufficient. This project has become a national model. Bishop Brooks is also Executive Producer of the Fresh Fruit Television Broadcast airing weekly on Tri-State Christian Television (TCT-61).

In addition to serving as senior pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Bishop Brooks travels extensively speaking at conferences and revivals, and accepts other opportunities where he can proclaim the gospel. He endeavors to speak what the heart of God is saying to His people with relevance and clarity.

A believer in holistic ministry, he serves the community on a local, state and national level via Tri-State Christian Television (TCT) Board of Directors, Mutual Community Savings Bank Board of Directors, Mount Zion Properties, Inc. and various advisory boards and boards of directors. In 2005 the Business Journal named Bishop Brooks one of the Most Influential Person in the Triad.

A native of Hillsborough (Orange County), North Carolina, Bishop Brooks is the son of the late Rev. Luther A. Brooks and Catherine Brooks. He and his wife, Edna, have two children, Kevin (Kim) and Keva (Calvin), and four grandchildren (Joceyln, Keyon, Kiandra and Kaleb).
